As a teenager, Jane dabbled with journal entries and short stories. Only years later, after stints as a technical writer and corporate newsletter editor, did she fully realize how much she enjoyed writing her own creative pieces, preferring the chatty writing style of Erma Bombeck. For her, the main role of writing was to be expressive. And real.
The topic of her debut book is certainly a tough one: the death of her young grandson. But Elling approaches her real-life challenge with both openness, balance, and even a touch of humor…elements that she hopes other grandparents will find as they go thru the grieving process. In her introduction, Jane will talk about how and why she developed her idea of a remembrance project.
Jane is grateful to announce that Licensed Professional Counselor Nancy Golden will join her in leading this event. Nancy will give her professional perspective on the particular elements of grief that grieving grandparents face and then lead a group discussion about these challenges.
Please join us for an insightful hour of hope and discussion. Grieving grandparents are especially welcome.
